Are you a photographer or artist looking to present work in the best possible way? Then read on Raw’s Photography And Artist Gallery WordPress theme review.
I was in the market for a stylish and minimalist theme to build a quality website for a passionate abstract and figurative painter. This being the second project for the same customer I knew exactly what kind of theme would help me build a beautiful and easy to navigate WordPress website to showcase the artist’s work in the best possible way.
I needed to find a creative portfolio theme built to highlight the content without distracting the visitor’s attention from the artist’s paintings and overall message. It had to feature a smooth navigation system, multiple options for displaying the portfolio items, include premade gallery, blog and about pages all wrapped up in a minimalist and responsive design for a seamless user experience.
Purchasing From Themeforest
While browsing for such a theme on Themeforest and analyzing some more or less interesting alternatives I came across Raw from UDTHEMES and it was love at first sight. Its minimalist yet powerful design combined with splendid photography as demo content sum up for a bold statement and a memorable experience.
Going through some of the comments, sales figures and past work from the author eliminated any doubts regarding support quality, thus making the decision risk free. So I jumped on the purchase button and moments later thanks to a well sorted documentation and simple demo content import process I was running a beautiful artist portfolio website, congratulating myself for the smart purchase 🙂
The customization process was a breeze thanks to the included page layouts, demo content and intuitive customization options. Raw is advertised by the author as a great photography theme which is entirely true but let me tell you, it’s an absolute treat for building a painting artist’s website.
Right from the start you can choose between 3 website skins: white, white alternative and black which only affect the color scheme, leaving everything else unchanged except for some minor changes to the homepage on the white alternative.
Then you can make your life easier by importing the demo content and keeping the elements that suit your vision for the finalized website. Removing, adding and modifying content is very straight forward and it shouldn’t be a problem for any WordPress user. However, if you find yourself in a jam you can always checkout the documentation and the video tutorials sections.
Raw’s theme options panel, The Foundry, confirms that we’re dealing with a highly specialized theme, providing quick access to all the basic customization options that you could need to personalize your installation. There aren’t too many options to execute any dramatic changes but you wouldn’t really need them considering how well put together is the default layout for each page.
The Foundry enables its users to change the logo, contact information, social networks, footer details, colors, fonts, sliders information while also featuring a custom CSS section and Google Analytics integration.
At first glance, analyzing it independently, one can say that the theme options panel is not Raw’s strongest point but taking into account the theme’s great design and how quickly one can deploy a finished website you soon realize that Raw is the right choice for a modern creative portfolio website.
The online documentation covers in detail everything that Raw has to offer from initial setup, to creating pages, portfolio options, shortcodes and widget areas. You also have access to an elaborate video tutorials section and dedicated support forum.
If I had just three words to describe Raw WordPress theme they would have to be: light, fast and elegant. This is a specialized creative portfolio WordPress theme, ultra-light and blazing fast, free of unnecessary features and multiple variations of each page. It’s quick to setup and easy to customize, with a minimalist and stylish design that will make your content look great on any device.
